The 2011 Sports and Entertainment Law Symposium is scheduled to take place this Friday, April 1st in Room 119 at the William and Mary School of Law. The Symposium Committee, spearheaded by SELS President, JB Poulard, has put together an event that is aimed at addressing the current hot topics in both sports and entertainment law.

The event kicks off at 10:00 am. The first panel is composed of sports law experts who will be discussing the current issues facing players, agents, and universities involving illegal contact between student athletes and agents in light of the lack of agent regulation post NFLPA decertification. Following the discussion, there will be a brief break. At 11:30 am, the entertainment law panel, also composed of experts in their field, will discuss intellectual property issues arising from cloud computing music distribution, legal issues and remedies arising from “docudramas”, and the legal prospective of the novelist. The symposium will conclude with a free lunch where the attendees will have the chance to meet our speakers.

The symposium is free and open to the public. If you are unable to attend, keep an eye on this page throughout the day because we will be live blogging.
